Will a front side mirror help?

I bounce my IR blobs off of the same mirror I use for projection and am getting very noisy and low contrast image.

To solve this problem I’m considering making a front side mirror.  Many people use this tactic to get rid of ghosting but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for me.

Do you think it will improve blob contrast or am i just wasting my time?

here is what the raw feed looks like with the mirror…

and here it is without

do you have any other recommendations?

I mentioned this in another post…
I had a similar problem and the same setup. I moved the angle of the projector and that left a spot open directly under the screen.
I put my camera at the bottom of the box and pointed it up at the screen directly and everything worked great after that.

very interesting idea but i’m not sure that will be enough distance… it will at least get me close.  i’ll give it a try in the morning!

Solved the same problem by moving the web cam to the bottom. Now I need a wide angle lens.

I guess you need either more contrast (i.e. more IR light coming back) or you need to look at the screen directly with the camera. I figure the noise comes from the fact that the camera gets so little light.

You’ve got it… i was hoping to find a way of doing that without replacing 104 my LEDs with 850nm but it’s not looking good.

My table it too wide even if the camera sits on the floor with no mirror in the way.

So unless someone has found a wide angle lens that fits on the xbox vision cam I may be spending more money.
