Hello.

OK, after much reading I’ve decided XCode, Cocoa, Core Animation etc is the route I want to go down.  I’m looking around on line, hunitn gfor books or vids, but have no idea where t start.

Any pointers, links, words of advice would be great.

A.

Good decision smile Core Animation is definitely the way to go with Multitouch ... gives the possibility to achieve pretty slick things.

The two books I would recommend are:

“Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X” by Aaron Hillegass
http://www.amazon.com/Cocoa-Programming-Mac-OS-3rd/dp/0321503619/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214781055&sr=8-1

and “Learning Cocoa” by Troy Mott
http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Cocoa-Troy-Mott/dp/B00007FYJ6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214781168&sr=8-3

Aaron Hillegass runs a Cocoa bootcamp that is excellent if you can afford it (http://www.bignerdranch.com/) I haven’t been myself solely because of the cost issue ... it comes with high recommendations from good Cocoa programmers.  The Troy Mott book is endorsed by the Apple Developer Connection and has some very good content while being easy to read and follow.

Beyond that I would just say “start doing!” That’s the best way to learn.  Once you’ve got the fundamentals down start trying to create something.  You’ll use the Apple developer guides quite a bit (http://developer.apple.com) If you get stuck you can also join one of the Cocoa mailing lists provided by Apple (same address as before) or you can search the mailing list to see if someone else has already asked your same questions (http://www.cocoabuilder.com/)

Hope this helps get you started!
