So I built a 55” inch FullHD touchtable with a IR touch frame ala PeauProductions G4S. But now what?
Windows 8 is horrible at touch. And who wants to have multiple people crowded around one edge of the screen and no way to rotate the windows like the original Microsoft/Samsung SUR40
So i found Compiz Freewins (freely transformable windows) and Metisse. Both sadly are no longer maintained and Freewins is little more than eye candy as there is no way to interact with the windows
Along comes Wayland and input redirection.... with window rotation!
Apps… how about running an android emulator in the host OS, and tada… all the native touch apps you could need and more… so I have installed Genymotion and load touch apps like android google earth and I no longer need to mess with GestureKey and what not.
Next step is to try and run linux (probably archlinux) with Wayland and run multiple instances of genymotion so more than one can use the touch table computing…
Any thoughts, criticisms, advise?
