I really dont know, if someone else had this idea, but isnt light lightspread much better in a white environment.
White Interior could help increase brightness with LCD panels and even projectors, or not?

Im planning to build a Mulit-Touch Screen too, with higher image quality and thought about maximum utilisation in a flat table.
And how to solve the lcd-backlight problem?

In our experience white interior doesn’t work well with projectors! It’s true that the brightness increases but you loose a lot of contrast resulting in a much worse image! I have no experience with LCD Setups but I could imagine that it could work! It definitely boosts your IR panels when using DI!

For our FTIR we use matte black interior, which works well. For DI however we are also experimenting with a brighter interior to increase bounce light.

We use projectors in both cases. Maybe that is different then… I guess for the LCD you also need a lot of visible light behind the screen for the backlight.

You are talking about the contrast on the screen right, not on the camera?

Yes, I was talking about the screen! Since the white interior also reflects visible light a lot of light bouncing back from the walls diffuses the projected image!

We were using a mirror for the projector btw.

I have seen both cases, dark and bright interiors. A dark interior pretends to avoid the loose of contrast at the screen and also avoid the chance to the user to “see” the interior through soft translucent screens (with frosted glasses for example), while bright interiors are used mostly for DI units to help IR light diffusion and flood the screen in a better way, avoiding hot spots.

I think all depends on your setup, but if you have a well designed IR illumination, the dark interior should be the best option.
