i was at ikea and notice this desk pad

it’s a clear plastic with a textured bottom, so i bought it to test it out as a compliant surface......  it performance was *ok*.

pro’s:
- cheap and easy to find
- uniform texture

con’s:
- blobs are not as bright as the mylar + silicone caulking but still trackable
- blobs leave ‘trails’ because they are slow to release from the arcylic....they give the smoke_demo effect

in the end, the mylar and silicone caulking method still outperforms the deskpad, but for those who do not have the time to make their own compliant surface this pad might be an adequate alternative.....

(i havent tested it with a projection though)
