ohhh, they have stolen my idea
i’m still waiting for my iPhone that I ordered in advance by t-mobile :( i’m going to make iPhone a following input provider for MultiTouchVista.
With what i’ve seen from the ipod / iphone SDK this should be very easy to do.
I’d try making something like this, but i don’t have a mac, which you need to run the iphone sdk :(
There are quite a LOT of applications for the iPhone out there for remote controlling your PC/Mac. Far as i know they are connected to the PC/Mac over SSH. Take a look at the different iPhone blogs if you are interrested in that stuff (i.e. http://www.iphonealley.com/ or (german) http://www.iphone-ticker.de/)… Unfortunatly i am USING my iPhone for business so don’t want to jailbrake it
Right then jail breaking my i pod touch was real easy eventually, There are llots of good tuts out there and lots of rubbish copy cat tuts that miss vitals. If you want to do this get the tut that uses Iphuc. Stupid name but there you go! i did this on windows using parralels on OSx. then downloaded the instaler app by navigating through safari on the ipod to http://www.jailbreakme.com this unlocks the ipod touch and allows third party apps to be installed,
One of these apps is called touchpad pro which behaves in a very simalar way to the app nuiman posted, It basically turns the touch into a trackpad not so good as the multi touch app posted but cool none the less
Someone to put a TUIO bridge on the appstore and make money ? :D
or actually help people and make it open source? 8-)
OpenSource on the appstore ? Is it possible ?
i think you can make apps available there free of charge,
you could set up a sourceforge page to accompany it and there you go
@ajlovegrove:
i remember jailbreaking my ipod touch by downgrading to 1.1.0 firmware and then painstakingly jailbreaking and prepping my way up to 1.3.0, which is where i left it.
thats right its all about hte downgrade! Nice in my haste i neglected to mention the most important part, Mines still at 1.1.1 and loving it!
Its funny all i bought it for was to use as a remote, for Modul8 using AKA remote and I3L it then controls midi in a range of briliant different controlers, its also possible to assign the accelerometer to midi channels! Oh Yeah!
Sadly no multitouch or multipoint even :( just a lonely finger stroking the visuals on the dance floor. Man i must look like a right geek on the dancefloor!
i think you can make apps available there free of charge,
Yep good old Jobsy is allowing people to distrubute thier software free. If you want to charge for your apps then apple take a 30% cut, but if you want to distrubute your apps for free then apple dont take a penny, apart from the initial SDK payment that allows you to up load to the APP store. I think the SDK is £90 but i downloaded the free one which lets me develope but not distrubute through Apple.
Not that i know what to do with it. but i supose it might come in handy.
