Mine is the official DDR mat that comes with the PS2 game, err, letsee, this one or something very similar.

The ‘rubber’ sheet is about 0.4 mm thick according to my calipers (0.37 with hard pressure, springs back to about 0.45 on release).

hey joat,

thats exactly the mat I bought. I´ll check it out tomorrow, I don´t have it at home right now.
So I´m looking for a white rubber layer?
Sooo…
1st layer is acrylic
2nd layer ist that white rubber from the pad
3rd layer is the projection foil (mylar, rosco...)

And the projection goes through the rubber?

thanks.... I´ll check it out

Ok, I tried it. The white stuff is really amazing. But because of the material texture, its unusable for my project.
The projection does not go right through it. Half gets projected onto the white material, the other half goes onto the
projection surface. So the image gets darker.. Text is almost unreadble because of the texture. Oh well, I guess
I´ll try to pour some silicone now.

I have a sample coming from a company that “talcs” their silicone rubber sheets. Its standard practice apparently and a sheet 1mx0.7m should cost no more than £20.

They add talcum to the silicone as its cured/heated/rolled (cant remember) which creates a kind of tracing paper look but it has the properies of rubber.sounds like a winner to me.

Will let you know how goes when arrives.

if on top of that i could find an acetate type material which blocks ambient ir we could be cooking.

I am quite sure that the official DDR PS2 mat has the same rubber underside. Tim’s photo shows the same texture as mine, so maybe these ones are cheaper. The model number is RU041 and is made by Konami.
