Hello Everyone, Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here for all the information they provided. Great stuff. I would not have made it this far with out all the useful information. This isn’t really a detail write up, but i am excited because i got all the pieces working together today. There has to be some polishing, but it’s heading in that direction.
The Box is a wooden frame that is made to be taken apart quickly, and movable. So all the sides are not nailed together. It’s also meant to work as a frame for panels. I will design nice panels once i find a nice short throw projector, and find a mirror solution for my IR camera. The projector and camera, are currently outside the box. When the project is done (Sept, 7th) I will have detailed drawings of the box, and my solution.
I’m using 3/8” acrylic (47” x 35"), the flex isn’t bad, and went with the FITR method. I was lazy and paid to get it polished. I used some window weather striping as a pad for the glass to sit on, keeps in place really well. I also have two arrays of 46 led lights spaced apart at one inch - they were wired in series then parallel for a computer PSU. When I first tested, one array of 46 was more then enough. I was originally concerned about the 3/8” thickness for my size, but there isn’t much flex in the acrylic that is noticeable. At this point, I’m only using a piece of Mylar on top of the surface, and i haven’t really sealed off everything. But it worked relatively well with the TouchLib Demo.
I’ve only tested it with the Touch lib demo, but did not calibrate the camera’s viewing dimension with the surface, so when i touch the surface, things are slightly offset. Sorry no pics of the Touch lib demo yet. I am also writing some custom code, that ties into Processing.org. I’ve got it to works with the Reactivation right now for fudiciary tracking. VVVV and Processing also work. I’m not sure what I will use for writing a touch screen based application.
I also have to decide if I want to use two cameras, right now the wide angle lens on my camera, when capturing a viewing area of (47"x35") is really quite distorted.
Anyways here are the pics.
