Do anyone have websites for IR filters (both pass and bandpass)? I read someonwehre (don’t remember where) that photograph filters are different then the ones we need; is this true? What is the difference?

Also I found these filters on ebay IR filter. I wrote to the seller to find more info to see what the specific wavelengths being passed are and i’ll write back when I know. I doubt it’s the right wavelength, but if it is would this filter work?

I don’t see any filters that are the same size as CCTV camera lens. Since this is the case, is it possible to just cut the filter down with scissors? Are we supposed to place the filter over the lens or over the CCD?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I still don’t know for sure the correct type of filters for our projects, but I believe the optical filters from ebay are correct. I found this ebay seller http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZbjomejagQQhtZ-1 who sells New Old stock optical filters from omega optical. I spoke to the seller, and he will be quoting me a price very soon for IR bandpass filters. Here’s a current list of what he has in stock stock page. These filters are VERY cheap compared to online stores. The seller hasn’t gotten back to me about individual prices (some seem to vary from 10-40$), but he has an ebay “lot” of any 5 IR filters for $90US. That ($20 each) is VERY cheap for a bandpass filter. Maybe a few of us could split the cost if these end up working out. People using the Osram LEDs will find good news that he has a narrowband 880nm bandpass filter that may work well (I’ll know more soon).
