Im trying to work out my FTIR surface.
I need an answer here, i dont wanna be told to search the forums cause I already have and plus, im at my brother and law’s house and he still has dial up, so its a pain.

I know its supposed to go:
----Projection Surface (In my case Rosco Grey)
----DIffuser (Sulky Solvy)
----Acrylic

Can it be put to where its:
----Acrylic
----Diffuser
----Rosco

Or even:
----Diffuser
----Acrylic
----Rosco

????

I need to know how else i can place these layers.

Also, i order my solvy stuff and it came folded, it has some creases in it....how can i remove those??? I can get more but i dont fell like it if i dont have to. WHere is a quick place where I can get some other Compliant Surfaces, such as drafting paper?

In other news, im working on the houseing, looks pretty good, should be done soon. Ill post pictures and a guide to how i did it when i get home, off this dial-up POS!

But please and thank you so much!!!!

Your layering schema is somewhat confusing, as it seems to be upside down.

Top
---
your fingers
diffuser (rosco, vellum)
compliant surface (sulky solvey, ge silicon 1)
acrylic
--------
bottom

The acrylic provides the FTIR effect which is picked up by the webcam.

The compliant surface serves to increase the sensitivity of the FTIR surface, so that you don’t have to press really hard to get good results.

The diffuser serves a dual purpose.  The image from the projector is diffused onto it.  But, it also serves as a surface to slide your fingers on.  The compliant surface wouldn’t offer a smooth glide.

Thank you so much, ive been over at his house for over a week, i forgot the exact layering scheyme. This is going to be open to the public for a bit, i was wondering what would be good to spread over the projection screen because of so many people touching it? Or should i just leave it. THansk for all your help. I plan to help the community later with programming.

http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/2383/

This thread explains how you can create a diffuser + compliant surface with drafting vellum and thinned silicon.

The basic idea is that you’d take 2 pieces of drafting vellum to Kinko’s and have them run them both through the laminator together.

Then, you’d cut the extra laminate from around the vellum to separate the pieces.

You then use a foam roller to spread a mixture of Xylol and GE Silicon 1 onto the unlaminated side of the vellum.  once it dries it can then be applied to your acrylic.

The thread goes into much more detail and has videos.
