Ok, so which features should this app have now? From what I could gather from the thread, the features suggested are:

* A multitouch surface view, from which the tracking data is relayed via TUIO/OSC.
* A button/slider view, where the user can define buttons and sliders, whose state changes are relayed via OSC.
* Accelerometer data relayed via OSC.

I think this would be really useful. It could be used as a remote multitouch trackpad, a “controller” for apps that understand OSC, a pseudo-wiimote, etc…

Anyway, I’ll be sure to contribute too, once the specification becomes a bit clearer.

I would suggest to go with LGPL or Apache 2.0 license. I also vote for Google Code.
I started to work on similar app a week ago, but didn’t have time to finish it.
It’s called iTUIO and uses BBOSC. I’m attaching some screenshots from iPhone Simulator. The code is still messy so it’s not yet ready for release.
I will be on vacations starting from today so I won’t have time to prepare release, but I think that actually starting from scratch will give us better results.

Best,
Pawel Solyg

hey everbody,

i’ve just uploaded the first version of our open source iphone tuio app to google code. the current version is just the frame for the app. so it launches (in landscape mode) and displays a background. you can touch the screen and the events are forwarded to (a currently empty) event manager object that prints all events to the console. the app also got already preferences where you can setup the host and port. these data is already present in the event manager. so what is left to get the events on a pc is the tuio conversion of UIEvent objects into tuio messages and some nice subtle graphics like an icon and a loading screen.

so if someone wants to do one of the two open points, please let me know. since the close deadline of chi 2009, i’m currently quite busy and i don’t think i’m able to add the tuio stuff this week.

if there is someone who has experience with open source projects and could do the necessary license stuff (readme, license, install, etc. files), please let me know.

with best wishes, stefan
