i’m wondering for what purpose you want to bend acrylic like that, my guess is to make like a bar like thing that the horizontal part is the surface where you put the glasses up and the vertical side would be the front of a bar for example, is the ir light still bouncing in the bended acrylic like with normal acrylic or does it bounce off?

Who knows, but my guess is it might be used to make an odd project like a FTIR compatible aquarium wall or something..anyways, looks cool rockit..

I’m bending acrylic to make non-planar surfaces.

Acrylic acts the as a water pipe - bending does not cause the light to escape.

plus: bending acrylic is just stunning.

i dont have any thermo-forming equpment at my current school which is unfortunate.... i would love to try making complex-curve forms by vacuum formning clear acrylic… if what rockit says is true that light wont escape bends, someone with acces to thermoforming equipment should try making spherical multitouch screens

Haha who would do that...*shifty eyes*

For those interested and lacking the tools; acrylic globes and the like are used for lamp covers and such. Google search pops up a lot of sites. http://www.1000bulbs.com/category.php?category=3885&gclid=CNGfnMPI-IwCFRlBgAodHTvqCA

New here and I have a lot to learn, but I was contemplating how to go about non-planar surfaces.  Thanks for the info Rockit
