i would like to setup a multitouch-screen outside in an urban enviroment using some window of a building. Therefore i wanted to use a DI setting, since people also should touch the surface with objects like cellphone, but also hands.
There is no need for fingertracking, but since it is colobarative more than one person shouzld be able to simultaneously touch the window.
It should mainly works nights, so there wouldn’t be too much light (maybe some lanterns a couple of meters away)

My question here is, does someone have experience and can give me some advice what are the dos and don’ts? What kind of IR-Leds in terms of strengs should be used?

If you are going to be using a window then you probably are stuck using the DI Method which is pretty good and easy to set up unlike FTIR. You really just need a camera that sees infrared light, diffuser, projector, projection surface/screen (your window with some sort of rear projection screen on it), and a whole bunch of Infrared lights, and a computer to process the whole thing.

Exept outside you will have the problem of sunlight with most of the IR spectre, messing up your blobs right? I think there is a thread on the forum on this somewhere

I tried some settings and it seams that it does only work if the rearprojection surface is on the outside of the glas. does somebody got an idea why that is? i saw a lot of setup-plans where the surface was on the inside, also with DI. Do i need more IR-Light (i used three 4x8 LED Matrixes powered on 12V)?

And sure the sun is a problem, but i guess i can’t compete with her, so i move to nights

Btw: I thought it might be enough having a rearprojection-surface on the glass (no diffuser?) or am i missing something?
