Hi everyone, I thought you might like to hear from the purple spheres digital arts week going on in Huia.  I was lucky enough to get involved in an experimental project where eight digital artists, animators, programmers, designers have all come together in a house in Huia, with the simple brief “invent stuff”.  So far I have been working on a natural human computer interface using ping pong balls with some great processing code, which has been a whole lot of fun.  Today I’m starting work on my multitouch table, so you will no doubt see me in the MIRC channel asking for advice I could ramble on, but you should take a look at http://www.purplespheres.co.nz/blog if you would like to see more. I wuld be really interested in hearing your feedback.

Thanks for listening.

hi Maya ,

it seems you are letting your creativity flowing !

i ‘ve seen your google earth pong ball demo,
is it the Atlas Gloves stuff ?
will you post your code @ the processing section ?

you could do something similar using touchlib and two lighters ...

Have fun !

Hi guys, thanks for writing. yes we stared off with the Atlas Gloves stuff and then we went off on a bit of a tangent.  We have been using the tracking code for all sorts of stuff.

Today was just amazing! I can’t tell you in words how good it is to be surrounded by like minded people 24/7.

Last night we had RacheL Bronte who is the head of Google here come by and stay for dinner.  She was a really inspiring speaker.  Today Georgie Goater who is a dancer came and joined us for the day, she was brilliant! We had her dancing with our video motion tracking stuff and it really turned out nice.

All the videos are getting uploaded onto the blog, but we are running a little behind because we made so much progress today.

All the code will be made available om Sunday from the site, and you can put it here too if you like, although I warn you it is all quite fast written code, so not the pretiest thing to use, but we are all happy to share, and especialy here because Nui group has always been happy to share with us.

Anyway I will keep you posted on our progress.

Big Love

Maya

PS: Glad you like the photos, and the blog template is from graphpaper press.

Wow! Seems you got the best out of a workshop environment. Creativity and inventiveness getting together like that.. you guys must have had a rewarding week. How many were involved? Are you planning on making it a recurring event?
