Hi guys,

POP!mt is a Multi-player Bubble wrap game for 2-4 Players.  The aim is to pop all your bubbles before the other players do.
The first player to do so will be prompted with a “Player x Wins” screen (see below screenshots)
Pressing Reset clears the canvas of pressed bubbles and starts the game again.

I got the idea to make this game from this post http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/2674/ and also flash Bubble Wrap game that I’d play to “de-stress” at work. After seeing the above post and the request for Multi-touch from Nuiman, I thought “How hard can that be?” and that’s when POP!mt was born wink

At this stage the game uses Mark’s Touch library (as I want to make my own wink ) which can be found here: http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/2001/

I’ve added some screen shots of the game and a Beta version for whoever wants to give it a go. Feedback is welcomed tongue wink

There is also a quick video on MyYouTube (which you can find by clicking on the signature below) showing the very first version in action.

Enjoy!

***UPDATE 11-10-08***

POP!mt (Beta 3.1) is now a Multi-player Bubble wrap game for 1-4 Players.

What’s New?

- New Player VS CPU ‘timed’ mode
- Added ‘Exit’ and ‘Continue’ buttons
- Selection of ‘Widescreen’ or ‘Normal’ table format

Check out the screenshots below and like always, feedback is welcomed!

hi , Fairlane ,

report from beta test

great job ! a relaxing app !
it ‘s always hard to put real word things in to the multi touch interface ...

i just tried it with a 7 year old kid. i ‘ll send you pics , tonight .
it works perfectly .

Why did you add a calibration at the beginning ? (the message from osc are already calibrated , no ?

You can’t pop bubbles when dragging fingers ( in the real world you can !)

The 2 player mode should be horizontal (as in the wall pong from Seth)

You could add some sounds ,
(i sent u just a quick record, cut it & tell me if it fit )

anyway, keep up the good work !

Hey there jimihertz, glad you liked the game!

I’ll try and answer some questions…

Why did you add a calibration at the beginning ? (the message from osc are already calibrated , no ?

One of the important features of Mark’s touch library is the ability to resize the flash window and define the touch area with additional calibration.
That’s why I’m using Mark’s library for now, better flexibility for me at the moment.

You can’t pop bubbles when dragging fingers ( in the real world you can !)

This was done on purpose. Originally I was using the MOUSE_OVER function in the eventlistener, however, too many people were just
waving their hands over the play area (bubbles) and the game was over in 2 seconds.

The 2 player mode should be horizontal (as in the wall pong from Seth)

Do you mean rotating the 2 player screen 90 degrees? This can be done if that’s what you like.
Using it on ORION, the table is square (4:3) so it doesn’t matter, however, if you were using a 16:9
setup then I guess that would look wierd wink

You could add some sounds

Are there no sounds playing currently? I have Bubble ‘Pops’ and Reset button ‘Clicks’ already. Are they not working?

Thanks for the feedback too, It all helps grin

@Justin, Cool… Let me know what you think. I’m currently working on Highscores, Maniac Mode (MOUSE_OVER) and Time Trial 1 player vs the clock mode.
I’ve also added a 2 player screen orientation selection after the player selects 2 player mode which I’ll add soon.
This should help with widescreen table setups. although it’s gonna be hard for me to test on my 4:3 table tongue wink

Hi, this game look very simple but will be surly big fun. What you think make some mode which will show up different color on random bubbles and gamers will must push it before computer/other player.

Sorry for my english. I`m from Czech Republic.

Hey Fairlane,

just tried to unzip the files and there was an error with the .exe. Just so you know.

I am actually a bit gutted because I had arranged to meet up with Technodai for a game!

Looking forward to the next release as we really would need the 2 player orientation for our table.
