Infrared LED Ribbon Help

I purched some in frared LED ribbions which were recomended but my camera is not picking them up unless Im shining them directly on the plexi glass and as well when I do that they barely stand out from the other light.... any suggetsions my IF LEDs are (940nm)

Do you have a 940nm filter?  You only want to see the 940nm and the rest of the visible/invisible spectrum you need filtered out

they barely stand out from the other light.

You should see bright spots ,
are they correctly alimented , how many leds, voltage ...?
be more specific .

right now Im only running 9 volts until I can get a 12 volt adapter, which I don’t think would have mad too much of a difference, I don’t think, my lens filter that I’m using is a peace of negative from a roll of film, I read would work but I could be wrong on that too!!

You would have better luck with a bandpass filter.

Cool thanks are those easy to come by? also the led lights dont seem very bright when I look at them through a digital camera, kinda like its it not lighting up the surface enough to make and impression is that normal.

You can get them on ebay pretty cheap, search around the forums lots of details on those. If you turn the lights off and shine the leds straight at your camera with no film over it do they white out the camera? Are you sure you removed the IR block filter on your camera?

no Im not really sure I assumed it was the clear peace kinda like transperancey paper that fell out when I was taking my camera apart is it somthing else??

also yea I didn forget to mention that the camers dosen’t blind out if I just hold a led up to it with lights off but the camera will when looking at the projection screen with the lights on, if that makes since??

actually you were right I removed the wrong thing thinking it was the ir Lens I found a great tutorial on how to take them out for all web cams for anyone who needs to know thanks again smile
