Why on earth are you using rosco? Spend some proper money and get some 3m Vikuiti, it’ll give you a far better result.

Vikuiti, at least the black adhesive film version, doesn’t really work well for FTIR or DI. I have a small sample and it never really worked out. With FTIR the texture of the material doesn’t bond well with a compliant surface leaving to much air between the layers. With DI the material might work with some very bright illumination. I think this has to do with the fact that is just scatters to much light. If someone has gotten it to work with DI i would be interested in hearing about their experience.

If you have the Vikuiti underneath the acrylic is should work rather then having it on top right?

Well with FTIR thats what i thought but because of its scattering it didn’t really work. It might be possible if you have super bright blobs. I haven’t tried it with a laser setup yet but my hope is that that would work but I am not holding my breath. It is an amazing projection surface though and if something can be found to work with it that would be great. It is super expensive compared to other things but that doesn’t seem to be an issue for you smile

Hmmn, I didn’t realise there might be problems with it, sorry about that. You could try curing or rolling the silicone onto the back of the Vikuiti using Tinkermans roll-on method, that might help. I only suggested it because it’s probably one of the worlds best projection materials and will give improved results projection wise over the rosco.  I think it’d be worth experimenting with anyway.

I’ll no longer post on this site again.  Too many people upset about things and extremely negative.  I don’t want people like that to gain from me.  I’ll find things out on my own totally.

Thanks for all the data from people who have answered my questions.

Sorry if some of our users turned you away. It would be cool if you could post some of your setup if not all of it in the Showcase section when your were done so that we could all see exactly how far multi-touch can be pushed.

I’m bad about monitoring posts so if you have a question regarding something I’ve said, then just send me a PM.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

Dell doest sell servers of that price without contacting you first. (I ordered servers half that price, and call me like 5 times). So hopefully you can cancel that order.

I dont know why you would claim to pay that for a box, but then skimp out on the pay for a programmer.

Take the money, spend $5k on the box… the rest on software.

hey you might want to take this to the next level / demention by using 2 cameras at once

The second cam one would could capture the 3rd dimension or Z (and y) axis
your fingers could be recognized via the aplication of an infered phosforsent

this way you could define any plane or in the room to be the touch surface.
and you could manipulate 3d objects in a most natural way
there are some 3d screen technology coming out that a sill way to expensive
but like any thing will drop in price with time( “exponentially less time” Ray Kurzwile)

I posted about this Idea here:
http://www.wiimoteproject.com/applications/tracking-fingers-makin-it-real/msg6781/?PHPSESSID=a702bf03cedd6e93bda5c0ba702d25af#new

................... screen
..... -----------------------------------
................... cam1

.................. user .................-cam2

......................................................
dose any one get what i am saying?

another site you might want to check out is:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/

the vid on the bottom of his site shows
how a normal 2d screen can appear to be 3d
for one person

It is VERY exiting

Posting in old thread.  Come on, this guy is such an obvious fraud!!!  He drops in for a few days saying he has 150K to spend on a touch screen, then suddenly disappears??  Do you really think someone with the username iloveanime would have $150 grand lying around?  Probably some kid playing a joke on us.  Anyway, good riddance.

This was good for a laugh. Anyone claiming they have $185k to spend on something they know nothing about = BS!

Maybe some lunatic with money to burn who looses interest for something just as quickly as he gets excited?

Although his username is quite suspicious indeed.

Anyway, one of the funniest threads on NUI Group…
