Very nice forum lots of info, congratulation.

I find out just recently about FTIR but I am really interested. I have a quaetion though. The way I understand it IR go through LCD panel; the thing is I have an old 15” LCD that I don’t use anymore. So if I strip it down remove the backlight, put an acrylic glass with led in front of it and a lamp with IR filter and a camera at the back, will it work? Did anybody tested that already?

Mostly, people are using projectors, but lately I’ve seen talk of LCDs, but its hard to say if it would pass IR through it, or what kind of sensitivity you need. The 2 LCD panels I myself have taken apart were transparent-ish, but rather dark, in general. If you have one, though, could be worth a try! Dig in this forum, keep an eye on the idea on web, but come back if you come up with anything for sure. Projectors are $$$, kinda sucks. I’m lucky my brother gave me one for a gift, but jeebus the bulb cost $350.

i personally havent tested it but i believe we’re soon going to rip an lcd apart to test it, and like th0m said, there are a couple of people on the forum that played around with it, so you might be able to find something that helps you out

I myself have high hopes that OLED screen technology might work. LCD also would be a large step forward since the projector setup is everything but handy.
