hi
I’m building my first FTIR multi touch screen.
I have been following Harry’s how to guide and i am half way there!
In my project I’m attempting to use vvvv to track fiducial markers
When these markers are present I want the users to be able to manipulate the graphics
on the touch screen.
I am not very familiar with vvvv (my C++ skills would be a lot better)
and would appreciate any input into getting things rolling!
I added some pics to show you maybe how some basic interactions might take place.
I’m looking forward to getting started and will update with pics and code on the way.
charlie

Hey charlie,

Your drawings look like your table is going to be pretty nice. Harry’s guide is very good. I just ordered my acrylic, so I’m just getting started. Luckily, I already have my camera and power supply.

Anyway, good to have you here, charlie.

Do you have an idea of what fiducial markers you will be using? Do you want to make your own or use ones already made? You can use the ones from reactivision and they have a vvvv patch that tracks them. You can find the patch either on the reactivision website and/or vvvv website.

I’m not very good at vvvv either, but have you checked out the online tutorials? It’s basic, but helps you get accustomed right away to certain objects in vvvv. I would start there maybe? Also, you could check out “tangitable” since they use fiducial markers in vvvv and released their vvvv patches on their website.

yep - i got those patches from tangible table and the reactable.
I’m just trying to hook up the camera and projector at the moment
ideally i’d like to make my own but for the meantime i’m using the ones from the reactable.
cheers

I have a question, charlie. How are you going to get iPods to be recognized and synced when you place them on the table? There hasn’t been an iPod so far that has wireless capabilities, but hopefully Steve will give us a wireless iPod some day soon.

Anyway, it’s a good idea, and the only inventive idea brought into reality by Microsoft’s Surface, IMO.

To recognise the ipods I’m going to use fiducial markers.
I’m just going to simulate this part.
Then I want the user to be able to interact with the graphics displayed on the screen.

Oh, okay. It’s just an interface control type of thing. Pretty cool idea.
