I can’t get the spc9000nc camera running to its full potential. With tbeta it is running but just on 3 frames a second on 320 * 240. Is there any way to get it up and running

I checked this site (provides web cam drivers for macosx on a commercial basis) http://www.ioxperts.com/devices/supportedvideo.html#usb but the Philips cam is not on the list.

I tried macam (http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/) but it doesn’t seem to help a lot, just 3 frames epr second on 320*240

I just tried iUSBCam 2.2.4 and it got the camera up and running for iChat but not for other apps like tbeta

My plan was to use it it with tbeta because it is a recomended camera but it doesn’t cross my mind that Philips wouldn’t support Macosx. Any suggestion is welcome.

lesouvage i work under mac too and have same problems whit LifeCam 1000 so i go for PS3eye ($40 whit ship) and works great whit tbeta (40fps) another camera that works under mac is Xbox cam, if you go for Ps3eye you must use macam hacked.

Try using Touche instead as a tracker.

Thanks for pointing me to Touche. It works great on my macbook and it has a lot of options to adjust the blobs. But how can it be of use to get my philips camera up and running? I tried it but it doesn’t even detect the camera. Any suggestion is very welcome.

Hmm,

Yes sorry i should have read your earlier post properly!  Yeah i had absolutely no luck with usb cams on os x they are either to slow or just don’t work with any of the Tracker apps!  I have a fireflyMV from point Grey. I get 60fps.  But it was quite expensive.  The only other thing i can suggest is running boot camp, parallels or VMware and using windows!  Or getting a unibrain fireI none of which really help you!  Also if you have a new MacBook then there is no firewire port at all!!!  Dont get me started about that fiasco!

Cheers

It seems that the spc900nc is running smooth and with a proper number of frames per second when using Touché. I haven’t find a frame counter per second but it looks like a lot of frames per second. The flash viewer and Touché is eating up all cpu power available on my macbook when doing the ripple app.

With Tbeta the camera is just working on 5 frames per second at the top.

That sounds great!  Touche was built for os x an takes advantage of its core services.  Tbeta is great but i think some ture optomisation for os x is required.  Also check out Sandor and Ben Britten’s Xmass pack!

Hey Lesouvage, I downloaded touche and ran it with spc900nc using the macam. It didnt run smooth tho, looks more like running at 5fps. How’d you get yours running smoothly?
