I’d have to disagree about “the more light the better” with using rear illumination. My setup was working pretty good with just ambient light (see my blog) but I still needed a little extra light to even out the surface. I wired up just 4 IR LEDs below the surface and that was enough, even being 2 feet away, to completely wash out my cam image. Even when I angled the lights to reduce the overall light level, there were still hard edges from the light. I think there is a definate need for testing to find the right balance for rear illumination. I ordered some diffuse material online from http://www.gamonline.com so when I get that in I’ll let everyone know how it goes.
