This project covers my Master Thesis. I developed a Workbench Display and a markerless optical tracking system for 3D interaction.

The Workbench displays 3D stereo images and the tracking system allows for interaction with virtual objects on the display surface.

The tracking system uses infrared light to illuminate the display surface from behind and the camera is only sensitive to infrared light. Basic image processing techniques are then applied to acquire position of the hand.

I hope you like what you see, and i would like to get some feedback.
Please feel free to ask about anything about the contruction.

Regards

Allan

Hi Allan,

Cheers for sharing.

Looks amazing smile
The 3D reaction to your head movement is cool to see. Not too sure I could handle things moving and jumping out at me.

Were have you placed your IR? as I could not see it in the pics or when I did a quick scan of your pdf (will read it at the weekend).

The 3D is definitely something I have not seen implemented before.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the feedback.

I have several IR arrays placed on the floor pointing directly upwards towards the surface.  Although i had 4 of them i could have used more because of the size of the display.

The reseson that the video looks alittle shaky, is that the camera filming has the magentic sensor placed on it. The range of the sensor isn’t that long so when it comes to far away the readings jump.
