hi, thanks for your answers.

Ok,

//////1

So, my .version file has the following content:

VERSION=2
PATCHLEVEL:=6
SUBLEVEL:=26
KERNELRELEASE:=2.6.26.8-57.fc8

and uname -r gives me:

2.6.26.8-57.fc8

So I assume it is correct.

//////2

now about the kernel source:

UPDATE:::

I managed to install the source with yum install kernel-devel

It compiled with make without a problem and installed with make install without errors as well

I’ll post any other problems…

thanks again!

J

Hi all,

everything compiled ok, the module loads fine (at least it seems so) and I get a /dev/video1 device

However, when I open it in Pure Data / Gem I get a distorted picture. (Image Attached)

Has anyone had this?

I loaded the module with /sbin/modprobe gspca_ov534 videomode=10
(after unloading it)

best,

Jaime

Have you tried any other video software (VLC, mplayer, etc..)? Just to verify the driver is working correctly.

Looks like the install is ok, I’ve never tried Pure Data to make sure it works..

So I’ve had similar problems with the PS3 Eye.  I installed it with the latest driver (kaswy’s 0.5 release), installed unicap, applied kaswy’s patch, compiled CCV from scratch, and still nothing.

I can get it to work in reactivision, but CCV just refuses to play ball.  It starts up, but just freezes when I switch to video.

hello everybody,
my first post.

I’ve got exactly the same problem rised, and apparently solved, by rj marsan and overload.

I have do this :
- install kawsky’s driver 0.5 and enable it with modprobe gspca_ov534 videomode=10
- download unicap, apply kawsky patch, compile unicap
- download ccv project, and replace ALL the static unicap libraries by the ones freshly compiled with kawsky’s patch
- compil ccv
- edit the ccv config.xml file to match my cam settings (videomode=10 -> 320*240@30fps)
- observe ccv running PERFECTLY !!!

Thx

Hi,

My very first posting here.

Could someone please confirm if they have actually been successful in getting PS3 Eye to work with aMSN?

After installing Jaunty 9.04 on my PS3 I thought that it would be nice to use my living room setup for video conversations. After some googling I found this on killerninjamonkey: ”Finally, you can use something like aMSN to use it as a web cam”. This being read, I ordered PS3 Eye from Play.com. I (being a Linux newbie) have installed Kaswy’s driver on Jaunty 9.04 running on powerpc (PS3). I can view the video feed with VLC but aMSN just gives a black screen.

I would like to know if it is even possible to get this setup working on aMSN. I would hate to buy a new camera and microphone just for IM purposes.

Thanks for any help! The more detailed they are, the more they will be appreciated grin

Br, zip51

I don’t remember the exact name of the static unicap libs.

By the way, what we know is that a static lib is a “.a” file, so we can find all the static unicap static lib by :
-> find < unicap patched directory > -name “*.a”
After that you’ll have the list of all the static libs you need to copy into the ccv project.

Now the question is : where exactly, in the ccv project, do I have to copy the patched libs ?
For each patched lib you’ve just found, you can do :
-> find < ccv project directory > -name < name of the unicap lib I want to find the path >
-> see the result, observe the path, copy the unicap patched lib into this path.

I Hope it will help.

Seems nice,

I don’t know why it doesn’t work good for me (a lot flickering, low framerate and some freezing ??? the same with kaswy’s original drivers).

thx
