I know I had mentioned I had experienced a slowdown in Win7 RC, but I think I still hadn’t straightened out my install at that point. I thnink it’s pretty snappy at this point and have no complaints.
Like everyonth though, I wish there was a way to send multitouch points to tuio without the overlay. W2TUIO is excellent in the meantime.
I wonder why >4 fingers would be required on such a small working surface as the HP TX2 of Dell XT..... Just for fun, I just found out the ntrig touchscreen is capable of tracking 2 noses and 2 fingers at the same time. EDIT: well, I guess for making music is sensible that you would like to have 10 finger input ( I remember the first CASIO polyphonic keyboards in the 80-ies, so nice!)
bah ... if you want tu make a presentation with maybe more than 2 peson around you tx2 thaths cool to have 255 point ... i try with pogopen to make object like tangible object with different signature to try making somting like microsoft surface ( 4 finguer but only 1 pen ) but pogopen is like your finguer so you can have many as you wantt (design for the iphone)
hi,
i have an hp tx2 touchsmart tx2 1020us
i installed windows 7 build 7100.. with multitouch enable (i downloaded the ntrig drivers)
and i do all the steps and i cant make it work.
i open the FLOSC (flash port 3000, OSC port: 3333) and start it, then i open a flash application (tried all of them) and then i open the W2TUIO.
i tried maximizing the aplication but still doesnt work. W2TUIO recognize all my fingers but flash application still recognize one.
ON CALIBIRATION: Finally I worked on W2TUIO again but are waiting for beta testing cf below. Some bugs were removed and now I would like to recruit people with the following gear to help me calibrate on the following platforms:
* Dell XT2
* HP desktops like TouchSmart iQ810
* others that natively support multitouch in Windows 7
(I already have a Dell XT myself, HP TX2: covered already)
If you can already run W2TUIO on this platform and are willing to help, please send me a PM with your machine type etc. I will then ask you to download a small piece of software to obtain the basic coordinates I need for setting default values for each of these machines.
With this assistance, I hope to have a new version ready by the end of this week!
Thank you in advance.
I have a HP Tx2z running Windows 7 32-bit. I have only 1 multi touch app that uses w2tuio which is the piano. The other apps for w2tuio i got rid off because I find Windows 7 Touch Pack more useful than the other ones. Anyone have anymore w2tuio apps I can experiment with? That would be pretty nice if guitar hero used w2tuio…
@JohnThrives: good point, although the W7 Touch Pack is not publicly available AFAIK. I often use the MT Desktop as a demo, and sometimes the fire. Others standard flash apps have grown redundant with the Touch Pack. Still, W2TUIO just ensures we can run any new NUI public software. And I guess we should not depend on one software developer....
why we need w2tuio… the touch pack need nothing , and where did you find other multitouch apps then one came with the w2tuio pack… (w2tuio can not be integrate to windows)
thats true, but if you write the correct codes into w2tuio it can work with .swf multi touch applications which most of them are designed to be used with touchlib program. I don’t know how to write codes, only simple commands in command prompt. Hopefully the Army teaches me how to write codes.
Calibration update: noting yet - running into small window mgt problems(technical: switched from .net2 to 3.5) . Will try to upload something by sunday…

you know if n-trig or a 3rd part driver / panel like the wacom one we can manage the touch/pen
and you know if the touch is able like the microsoft surface to know the size and shape of the dot or thats just like coordinate on screen ?
Finally I understood how to save properties in c#. The code is still unfinished, but you are welcome to try. 23 july: UPDATED AGAIN with a new version
Uncompress content to a new folder (should be two files). Then start the executable.
The calibration has to be done TWICE before successful. and is done as follows:
1. press C button
2. touch the screen at the topleft border of the client area of you MT application
3. press C.
4. Touch screen at bottomright border of client area
5. press C
6. and the calibration should work right away (and is saved for later use).
23 July: There are some minor bugs fixed, as well as new interactions like tapping the balloon text which can also be used to direct the calibration process.
for the record, the calibration data is saved in the user.config file (in the user directory, find details by google). You will also see the data in the balloon. If your version is working for a HP, Dell XT2 or anything else: please send me this data!
