i have been looking at a lot of posts and i have noticed a lot of people your using a Mirror is this just to make the projector far enough away so that you can have a larger screen size if so i see the point but if not why would you do that ???

Hey Seth,

Projectors have what’s called a throw ratio. This is a ratio of the distance the projector lens has to be from the projection surface to give a chosen screen size. A throw ratio of 1.5 would mean the projector’s beam would have to travel 60 inches (5 feet) for a 40 inch projection. So yes, it is being used to simulate distance, because you add the distance of the projector from the mirror and the distance from the mirror surface to the projection surface for the total distrance the projector beam has traveled.

to add to what kyle said.

when you build a horizontal table, you need to project upwards onto the table.and some horizontal projectors dont like it when u turn them vertical. mine shuts down when i turn it vertical.

That’s what I’ve been wondering about. Luckily I have to build a vertical display, because a horizontal table won’t fit through my doorway; the acrylic sheet is 36 by 28 inches by itself. My doorway is only about 30 inches wide. rasberry

Make the table top removable so you can turn it on it’s side and thus make it out the door smile

Well, we (my dad and I; I am nearly 16) tried building a box out of scrap wood the rough dimensions of the “box” and it might work, but I don’t really have anywhere in my room for a table that big.

With a vertical display, you don’t have to worry about aligning the projector and mirror, getting it through doorways, etc. Just plop the screen on a table and put the projector and camera 5-6 feet back and you’re done.
