I’m looking at using 100 LED’s spaced 1 inch apart on the top and right sides of a 57” x 43” 1/4” piece of acrylic with Polymex 50 micron thick drafting paper on the back and Sorta Clear 40 on the front. Can anybody give me an indication if this will give me good enough resolution for a hobby table?

Thanks

Hi wustudent, welcome!
That looks good - so you’re putting LEDs on 2 sides? That’s fine...more LEDs couldn’t hurt, but that should work fine. A couple of things to consider - webcam model (+bandpass filter) and LED specs (which specific LED?).
good luck!

Thanks for the response

I plan on using these LEDs:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220369949950&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX_Stores&refitem=370167942218&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget&_trksid=p284.m185&_trkparms=algo=SI&its=I&itu=UCI&otn=4&ps=41

And the webcam is a Gigaware brand, 1.3 megapixels, with a resolution of 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second. I haven’t messed with the filter yet, I’m just gathering info at this stage.
