First of all, thanks Ancalagon for the offer. Unfortunately I could not take advantage of it, but I appreciate it.
I ended up asking my local supplier for samples and they sent me all the 5 Acrylite screens, both Standard and Pro-Series. So I thought it could help others if I posted my impressions.
On one hand I found the Standard series to be actually better than I had expected for their price. They offer adequate image quality for screens that don’t require high resolutions, the hotspot is noticeable but not huge, the viewing angle is acceptable, the touch texture is fine, but the 3 mm thickness requires additional support. Anyway, it’s considerably better than Rosco or Lee Filters.
On the other hand, the Pro-series is simply amazing. What an image. And to be honest, I much preferred the 7D009. In comparison to the 7D006, it offers better contrast, wider viewing angle, superior resolution, and the touch texture is so much nicer. It’s not as bright, but I find it to be an advantage since the projected image does not hurt my eyes. It’s true that the bottom side is not matted as is the 7D006, but this material also requires an extra sheet of glass or acrylic to avoid sagging, which causes reflections anyway it you’re doing rear DI.
Point to remember: these impressions rely solely on 30 x 20 cm samples. It’s hands-on testing, but results may differ on large scale screens.
