hi

can you please check the links for the LEDs of the DI setup

i’ve corrected the links in the post above.

is the heatsink enough?

the heatsink is enough. the heatsinks are getting handwarm.

is the frosted side of the acrylic on the bottom or on top(do you touch the frosted side)?

yes, the frosted side is on the upside of the acrylic glass. i need that in order to provide support for fiducials. a frosted side underneath would not work for me as the fiducials would be blurred out too much.

you can try this out yourself with a scrap piece of acrylic glass, a piece of a diffuser foil and a printout of a fiducial: just put the foill on top of the acrylic glass and put the fiducial on top of that. you should see a fiducial from the back of the acrylic glass. if you put the foil underneath the acrylic glass and the fiducial on top of it you will see no fiducial.

do you get even illumination? no hotspot?

yes, the illumination is even and there is no hotspot. however, the illumination could be brighter. as you can see on those pictures, the leds are directed directly to the sides of the Virttable. they are not emitting light directly onto the surface of the table. and they are mounted as near to the surface as possible.

you could think that this is a waste of light perfomance and you were right. however, if you are emitting light directly onto the surface you will get hotspots. if you put the leds nearer to the bottom of the table you will get reflections of the table insides on the underside of the surface. these reflections will disturb a bit with the tracking of the fingers and extremely with the tracking of fiducials. if you painted the insides of the table black, you would not have those reflections. but then the insides would not reflect enough the lights of the leds.

it’s a pity, but for me there is no “all-in-one solution"…

What perspex are you using for the virttable and what are you using to catch the image of the projector on the perspex?

Thank you.

Oh, sorry. Perspex in South Africa is another name for Plexiglass or acrylic glass.

Hi,

Great work.
I saw your setting.
You said that you successfully ran the FireFly MV on the MacMini.
Can you kindly tell me what driver you installed?
I have problem on my MacBookPro with OSX10.5.
I can “see” the camera. However, the image is scrambled.
Thank you.
