Hello,

Has anyone experimented with some kind of IR diffuser? I figure this would be the best way to remove hotspots and pan the ir light evenly throught the surface on a DI setup.  I guessing the Microsoft surface probably uses something similar. Maybe some kind of specail glass or plastic?

I’ve been thinking about the same thing. As I’m about to try halogen with a IR bandpass filter. And was thinking of adding some kind of deffuser to the bp filter.

I have been using Halogen with bandpass filter.  I found the light from halogen is already much more diffused than the light from IRLEDs.  However, this is a larger project, so I can afford to put the light source far away from the projection surface.

Hi Overload,
If your putting the Halogens in a box, you will want good ventilation.  They put out a buttload of heat.  big surprise

yes cepdave, It will. But then again, I have 6+ fans I can put in the table. :p And placing them the right way, it would not be that bad smile You dont need to set the filter directly on the halogen. By using a little distance, you will get less heat, and wasyer cooling. And, the heat always raise. By helping the heat to escape, it will be more efficent and less heat smile If you understand where i’m going with that.
