Anyone have any recommendations on where or what type to get for a protective glass or other material for a DSI setup?

Also if someone knows thickness of what this layer should be, that would be great

Thanks

Any clear glass surface should work.... as long as it doesn’t couple on to the endlighten acrylic you are fine. you dont have to use glass you can also use acrylic to protect the screen as well.

Hey Taha,
What do you mean by “doesn’t couple on the the EnL”? I used a diffuser between EnL and glass and it didn’t work. So can I consider that it didn’t couple? Or do you need to leave a gap in between?

Gregi… it depends on the type of diffuser. Usually diffusers are thick and can block IR. in terms or a protective surface you can use any clear surface. glass or acrylic or even clear plastic sheet. as long it doesn’t stick on the surface.

ok guys i am a bit confused here, why am i putting a diffuser on top of the endlighten and beneath the protective glass, according to most diagrams the diffuser goes below the LCD matrix.

Second, how thick should the protective glass be?

Last, can the glass lay directly on top of the Endlighten or does there need to be a seperation.

Thanks

Can anyone answer the above?

1. Can protective glass lay right on top of Endlighten or does it need to not touch? if not touching is required how far away should it be placed?

2. Why would someone be placing a diffuser above the endlighten, that doesnt sound right, i thought diffuser goes below the LCD matrix and above the light source.

The source of the confusion is that we can talk about two types of diffusers. One is used in LCDs to make the backlight even and the other is used in projector setups to project the image on. So when using LCDs you don’t need a diffuser on top of the endlighten.
For your question n° 1, I can’t really tell since I never tried it.

cool thanks for clearing that up, thats what i thought but i started doubting myself.

So for all that are reading, we still have an open question.

Can the protective glass lay directly on top of the endlighten or should it be placed a small distance away, and if so how much?
