Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I’ve found this great forum and I started to build my own multittouch table
I’ve made a small LCD DSI setup with a playstation eye
Everything works fine but the PS Eye, I’m using the latest drivers and I cannot use high resolution than 320x240@15fps . If I go at a high frame rate or resolution the webcam freeze and I need to restart ccv
I tried many different things (xp, vista, seven, all usb port) but it still doesnt work and noone seems to have a solution for this issue

So I’ve decide to switch for another webcam, but now the question is : “Which webcam should I buy?”
As I said I’m using a LCD DSI table but I’m planning to switch to a LLP with a projector

Does anyone have a good advice for a webcam? I need one I can remove the IR filter, put a bandpass filter and a wide angle lens if possible

Thanks!

hi Rampa,

your crashing problem could be caused by your computer usb alimentation, those crashing often occurs also with laptops.
if you have a low budget , you can go for a Philips SPC900 , wich xworks fine . you can also switch to firewire cam , like UNibrain .

here is a list (not updated)

Keep us updated of your progress, good luck

Just to double check, are you using the config.xml located in Community Core Vision\data\config.xml to change the FPS for the ps3eye?  in the <FRAMERATE>125</FRAMERATE> you have chosen a value other than those that are in the test app or a value that is to high (For me max is 30fps on 640x480 and 125 on 320x240 without random freezes that require restart of CCV.) the frame rate WILL automatically revert to 15FPS.

Thanks for the answers
How could I resolve the alimentation problem? Because it’s true I’ve only tested on laptops so far!

For the FPS change I modified the config.xml but my freeze happens even on TestApp alone when I select any resolution and framerate higher than 320x240@15 so I don’t think it’s a ccv issue

Also thanks for the list I’m going to check, and yes I’ve “low budget” at least for the version 1.0 of the table

you can buy a USB hub with an external alimentation, so the camera will receive enough juice…

I’ve tested to disable the micro and it seems to work a bit longer before freezing (still not usable though)
I’ve also tested on an alimented USB hub and it didn’t change anything

Ritght now I’m using a very small mother board with atom N330 and nvidia ION, I see that people recommand good cpu for the philipps
