I think most people are buying from http://www.aixiz.com and the lasers they are buying are the 780nm 10-25mW (smaller tables can get away with the lower output).  You’ll also want to get some of the line generator lenses (the angle will vary depending on the number of lasers you will be using). Be warned though - ordering from Aixiz can be a bit… confusing.  They seem like a great place but you do get the feeling it’s being run out of someone’s house.

In the best case, you’ll order (they only accept PayPal) and your lasers will be in stock and they’ll ship right away and you’ll be done.  In my case (and several others) the item(s) will be out of stock, so you’ll wait.  Then PayPal will tell you the item has shipped, then (a few days after you think the items are well on their way to you) you’ll get an email stating they got your order but have no idea what was in it, so you’ll send an email stating your order, and they’ll sort it out, get the bits in and ship them.  Aixiz did no wrong by me, and I got everything I expected but the process of getting there was a bit hairy along the way.  Still their prices are so much cheaper than most other places it’s pretty much worth the confusion/frustration.

That’s the one most folks buy.  With four of those you will have plenty of power - maybe too much - for your screen size.  I’m using 4 of those for a 45” diagonal screen and others have used those for even larger screens.  You might want to look at the 10mW version.  Also, if you are buying 4 lasers get the 89 degree lens.  Typically the 120 is used if you are doing two lasers - I think there’s a few examples of that if you dig through the posts.

Good luck!

heheh well there you have it.  I will say that they were very responsive and cleared things up quickly, but after having two cases of credit card fraud from sites that had “great deals” but appeared to be of “home business” quality, I won’t deny that I was quickly on my guard when things went a bit strange in the transaction.  That’s why I keep an “internet only” credit card with a low limit now.

Still, I don’t want to give them a bad name - everything was delivered and squared away but people should know that the ride may be a little bumpy to get there.  I’d certainly (and probably will) buy from them again.

Don’t see why it wouldn’t work, but I’m also not the most experienced.  It should provide better protection from occlusion than only two lasers but I’m not sure just how much benefit it would be adding over just having the two lasers on top - my guess is not a whole lot.  I guess to put it another way - I’ve not seen a whole lot of 3 laser setups talked about on the forum - typically it’s 2 or 4 lasers and there’s something to be said for following the wisdom of the “herd” in this case.

Hi !

I am currently working on a 19” lcd multitouch screen project using LLP.
I will certainly buy my lasers in the next few days and I need a little information.

Here we can find 950nm 35mW lasers for 12$: http://www.aixiz.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_29&products_id=99
And also same wavelength but 10mW lasers for 11.25$: http://www.aixiz.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_29&products_id=120

So if I want to re-use these for a bigger screen, I’d better take the 35mW, but isn’t it too much power and is it secured for example if some rays are reflected on the surface when moving or else...?

Hi !

I have two 10mW lasers for a 19” LCD setup.

Is it better to set the two lasers in the upper corners, or one in the upper-left and the other in the bottom-right corner?

I can’t figure out the best setup in terms of occlusion = /

Regards,
Patrick

Hey Patrick,
Although i’m not TOO experienced in LLP, my thoughts are that having one on the upper left and bottom right would be more effective, since you are getting both top and bottom and left and right in terms of occlusion.  If you had two on top, then if you had to fingers above and below each other, you wouldn’t get blobs that clear for the one on bottom.  It’s been a while since you asked that questions, but who knows, maybe some begginer multi-toucher will look at this post and get something out of it.

Cheers!
