Hi,

I’m currently getting started on a project, which involves the use of the multi-touch interface to manipulate 3D objects. I have a FTIR setup.

Does anyone have a sample multi-touch app that allows one to manipulate a simple 3D object? I would like to take a look at the codes/instructions to get started, since I know next to nothing about this at the moment. Or if anyone has a tutorial on how one could create an app to manipulate a 3D object, it would be really great.

Thanks so much for readingsmile

Try Snowflake, it has a 3D viewer.

thanks for your reply.

But are there any open source alternatives? Because I would like to learn how to build a 3D model viewer/manipulator on my own.

look into: http://nuicode.com/projects/gsoc-sketchup/repository

also I would recommend try doing in Flash/AS3 its a good start to quickly prototype in:

Here is a video from a couple years ago I gotta find the source… but i remember it didn’t take much code to get working.

Have you seen pymt? One of it’s example apps is a 3D Viewer. You’ll have to be familiar with python though. Direct link: http://code.google.com/p/pymt/source/browse/examples/3Dviewer/3Dviewer.py

Thanks for all your replies.

I would prefer to do it in C++, because in the future, I might integrate the multi-touch screen with another 3D medical application that uses C++.

Hey, have you finally managed to do it in c++? I’m also looking for multi-touch rotate samples in c++.
