Hi all,

( Sorry for my english )

I have reading for weeks this forum and I’ll make my DI setup as soon as possible..

But there arenĀ“t people developing software for the comunity. I mean, there are “standar” protocols ( OSC, TUIO, etc ) at low level so you can concentrate developing high level software. All the videos shows the photo application, the colorfull plasma.. I know they try to demostrate tracking features, illumination.. but all looks the same..

Anyone is developing any new application?..

I have a proposition that I think it’ll work great on any multitouch setup: a jigsaw game..

Any thoughts?

welcome!

there are a lot of people developing software but nothing solid yet. Most(or maybe only me) try to first create the base for their applications so that they don’t need to rewrite a lot of code whenever they want to create a multitouch application. I think very soon we’ll be seeing a lot of great applications.

I agree donovan,
Now a lot of people , we are developping de base system now. Very soon we will see a very large progress.
But constructing a good framework for easy application writting is not that easy: there are a lot of different approaches.
A the moment you have to develop it all, there are some examples on the net.

I also thought of a jigsaw puzzle.  Multi touch would be a great way to spin and move pieces around.  There are some good flash tutorials on making puzzles online.  I also thought a little Etch-a-sketch would be neat because you could turn both knobs at once like in the real thing.  Multi touch is really cool but I’m running out of ideas of what really needs multiple touches that couldn’t be done with just one.

I and my buddy try to create something like turntable app, you could scratch a vinyls and mix it, that would be funny to scratch the vinyl and do some things on mixer at one time, just like in real ^^
and I have a idea to create a chess game with real figures they would have fudicuals on bottom, so you can play with computer or computer can assist you, and save stats and so on. or you could play online ^^

My plan is actualy not to build the MT screen, i just need one there for I have to build one ^^ I want to write cool apps for this new input device

but first, we have to create solid frawork, for creating such software easily or less stressful ^^

sorry for my english too ^^

greets aruss

As soon as I get my big box prototype finished, I plan on working on a mindmap / concept mapping software that utilizes gestures.  Multitouch is such a perfect technology for working collaboratively and mapping out ideas.

me and c.moore are collaborating on software for my multi touch table for teaching about space exploration around at my school and our local science museum, I am also semi-kinda-unofficially affiliated with ASU and JPL with the Phoenix probe to Mars, which my touch panel will show information about. i plan to start a post in the showcase showing progress on software and hardware(hardware is very close to done just need to build the actual box of the table).

although it won’t be a actual application as in Microsoft word is a document. Adj and Deej are the closest to making an actual application, (those two are awesome at this stuff)

look at their stuff, they made a puzzle game app of Tangrams.

right now, basically some of the best multi touch programing has been using flash.

Concept mapping is a good idea.

I always wanted to see a CSS prototyper.  Use MT to sketch out the layout for a webpage.  I do my coding by hand after sketching out the layout in Illustrator, etc..  Doing calculations is a pain when designing for a visual medium.

Etch-a-sketch is kind of an ironic example.  Your using direct manipulation to simulate indirect manipulation.

I think c.moore/nuiman was/is working on a mindmap application. I know he wanted to at least. It’s a great idea! =)

@ ntvy, I released a multitouch piano written in AS3 a while back. Check the svn or my blog.

I had the same idea, I see great apps and solutions coming for this group, this is how companies like Microsoft and Apple got started. I myself am trying to put together an OS that is designed only for touch based technology, you can find more info under my intro post or you can direct questions to my e-mail at
