sorry for my ignorance, but I am having trouble finding info on fidicuals-- by context I’m guessing: ‘detecting hand gestures’ ?

When fiducials are mentioned from a mt-perspective, it refers to the detection and recognition of specific geometric figures on the screen. These figures could for example be made out of triangles, squares, or even a hand, but it doesn’t cover the detection of hand gestures.

ahh, that makes sense. I think augmented reality programs use a similar system to determine special shapes printed on cards to display onto. thanks for clearing this up.

I’m kind of new in this kind of technology so I didn’t know if fiducials was a term everyone knows: they are little patterns which can be recognized by a computer, sort of augmented reality like indeed!

If you are interested, check out http://mtg.upf.es/reactable/?software it’s an open source framework called reacTIVision, the ‘famous’ reacTable is based on it.

Since this is going to be used in a short term school project (like 4 months) I’m doing some research on hardware specifics like the camera, projector etc because I can’t afford it time- and money wise to make errors.
So that’s why I was asking if this kind of setup was alright for a pattern recognition based multitouch table smile

fair enough; time to put the hammer to the nail, as they say!
hopefully someone can answer your question from experience.

good luck on your project, can’t wait to see it online smile

hi. i tried to figure out which kingbright led clusters you are using. i found two:

BL0106-15-28 (940 nm)
and
BL0106-15-29 (880 nm)

can you tell me which are you using? and also which lee product you are using. is there some kind of serial number for the frosted lee?
thank you.

edit: BL0106-15-29 (880 nm) found the answer myself. so only question about lee would be nice to be answered.

Gravano,
If i understand correctly ur using the frostened lee filter so that u can evenly spread the light IN THE BOX… but thats nt nessesary u need to sporead it ON THE SCREEN....

In fact if ir rays are riccocheting all over this may cause noise…

Correct me if im wrong

@ chaitanyamuppala:

well yes you need to spead infrared light evenly on the screen, but the only way to do this is to diffuse it before it reaches the screen so its diffused/spread out when it gets there, thats why its used on the walls

I’m at the point where I’m rounding up some final bits and pieces and wanted to pick up the Lee Filters for my DI setup. I’m in the US, so I’ve been trying to locate a local vendor as well as online shops. One well known vendor, B&H Photo, carries some filters, but not the full selection. When I did a search for the Lee Filter (273) Soft Reflector, a Rosco one came up. I’m wondering if this is the same thing - an industry standard color/texture, but just a different manufacturer? or something completely different? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/163173-REG/Rosco_102302732124__273_Filter_Soft.html

Same goes for the recommended Lee 225, Frost filter for the “screen”. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/163164-REG/Rosco_102302252124__225_Filter_Neutral.html

Thanks for your advice!

the lee filters:

225, natural desity frost - this is a semi translucent, black foil that can be used as a projection surface
273, soft silver reflector - this goes inside the box, so that the ir light is spread evenly inside the box, and thus also onto the screen

Do you have a picture or diagram showing your setup? Are you using a mirror?
