They do use markers. I haven’t checked that exact movie out in a while, but in other movies they clearly show the dominoes as well as have their demo spokesperson mention that’s what they’re using.

their fiducial markers are quite small.  Not nearly as large as ARToolKit or Reactivision.

saw surface last week during my trip to san francisco…
the markers are damm small, no comparison to reactivision…

I assume the small markers is one of the reasons for having 4 cameras?  More cameras means more resolution, so smaller markers.
