About the NUI Group
Founded in 2006 - the Natural User Interface Group or ~ NUI Group is an open source interactive media community researching and creating sensing and display techniques to benefit artistic, commercial and educational applications.
We offer a collaborative environments for developers and scientists that are interested in learning and sharing new HCI (Human Computer Interaction) methods and concepts. This may include topics such as: augmented reality, voice/handwriting and gesture recognition, touch computing, computer vision, and information visualization...
Getting started is easy, simply register as a member, and start collaborating with us.
Our current focus is "Open Source Interface", which is solely for accelerating development of existing sensing and visualization solutions, Thus allowing us to find the cheapest and most effective ways to construct our solutions. This project is truly amazing, which attracts a variety of people from around the globe.
One very important aspect of this project is to create and utilize open standards that allows software development to flourish. For example, we use the TUIO protocol, which is the standard for tabletop communication. Another crucial framework that must be created in an open community environment is "Open Interaction Standards", which allows for fluid interaction across devices and development cycles.
Mission Statement: To openly discover, develop, document and distribute NUI knowledge and systems and in the process formalize NUI as a scientific research area.
This initiative is supported by The NUI Foundation which is dedicated to fostering the growth of NUI technologies and it's community members. The Foundation is a public benefit organization committed not to making money but to advancing the way people everywhere access, create and experience user interfaces.
You can get in touch with us; via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our doors are always open and looking for new people with similar interests and dreams.
